Taryn – a short story (re-write)

After attending The Conference on Canadian Content in Speculative Arts and Literature in the Fall of 2017, I had the opportunity to show my short story of Fhyrane to a couple of editors for feedback. This had been my first completed piece of work and let’s just say the feedback was rather constructive, but was exactly what I needed to hear. I was sent back to the drawing board and here we are. I hope that I have done right by the feedback I was given.

As some of you have noticed, this is now the story of Taryn. One of the suggestions made was to avoid names that can be difficult to pronounce. I get that, I too have struggled with pronunciation of names while reading.

After multiple rounds of editing and eight “final drafts”, I am now ready to share the short story of Taryn.

* April 6, 2019, additional final edits have produced this final copy.
