Some of you may or may not be aware that I am working toward my Creative Writing certificate at Algonquin College. This short story was submitted as the final assignment for the Writing Short Stories course.
This story tells the tale of Fhyrane, set in a fictional fantasy world. Since this is a short story, it becomes difficult to really get into the world building aspect of the fantasy genre. I do attempt to give that poetic feel to my writing, that many expect while reading fantasy.
I am working towards a full length novel, Fhyrane is the father of the protaganist. I’ve been working at it for too long when I compare what little writing I have actually done. Lots of planning, story ideas, settings, world building… and yes, I know how it will end already. I have no title, but do have a working project title which is meaningless to anyone other than myself.
Please let me know what you think, I can’t hope to get better without a little criticism.
Cheers,
Scott
